THT production – for non-automatable printed circuit boards

Through hole technology – THT for short – is a special type of printed circuit board assembly. Once the through-hole mounting is used, the individual components have wire connections that are inserted through the existing contact holes of the circuit board. This is followed by a special wave soldering, selective soldering or manual soldering by hand. In this method, the manual work effort is usually much higher than in the fully automated SMT production. Despite the high cost, THT production has been indispensable in many industries until now, as some printed circuit boards can not be fully or completely automated.

Where is the THT production used?

Even though THT production in information electronics is being used less and less frequently today, these wired components are used especially for simpler products.
